The reason why I chose UCSD as my college was
because of the school environment and my family. To prepare me for college, my
parents always told me to be open-minded and to be adventurous. I always
dreamed of living in the West coast and believed that college was my chance to
adventure a new setting. Also, having many relatives live near San Diego and a
cousin who graduated from UCSD had a positive influence in my decision. My dad
prepared me for college in many ways. He took his workdays off for me and took
me on a college tour in both the East and West coast. As well as this, hearing
about my dad’s exciting stories of his college days in Penn State University strongly
inspired me about college life. The older I get, the more I realize that being
able to connect with families and friends is a real blessing that many students
from urban schools are unable to do.
